Great post! I first discovered Truxton about two years ago. I'm not a big shoot-em-up fan but Truxton's aesthetic and music caught my interest. I just wish that the game was little bit more forgiving. Time to practice more, I guess.
Yeah, Toaplan was famous for their difficult SHMUPS like Truxon. You do have at least two options. You can use a Game Genie if you’re playing on original hardware (or use the built-in functionality if available when sailing the high seas).
Or you can enter a cheat code natively in the game that shows you all the endings, and the game starts over, but you now have invincibility and can get through unscathed.
I only found out about it literally last week, but I can also confirm it works. Here’s the link:

I highly recommend you give Truxton II a chance. It's miles better than the first one, especially the original arcade version.
I’ve been curious about the sequel. I just noticed I can get both on Toaplan Arcade Collection Vol. 2. I might check that out.
